OUR HISTORY
The Dozoretz Hospice House of Hampton Roads was born from a vision of providing compassionate end-of-life care in a dedicated, community-focused facility.
The dream began to take shape when the City of Virginia Beach generously donated 2.5 acres of land in the Red Mill area, making it possible to build the first freestanding inpatient hospice house in the region. This act of generosity allowed us to create a place where patients and their families could experience peace, comfort, and support during life’s most challenging moments.
Dr. Dozoretz’s dedication to healthcare and his compassionate approach to patient care inspired the vision for this facility. His family, continuing his legacy, played a pivotal role in bringing the project to life, ensuring that the values he cherished—compassion, dignity, and respect—are reflected in every aspect of the hospice house.
Today, the Dozoretz Hospice House stands as a testament to the power of community collaboration and a family’s commitment to honoring their loved one’s legacy. It serves as a sanctuary for patients and families, providing the highest quality of care during their final days, in a setting designed to bring comfort and peace.
